The biggest obstacle generally is not enough practice time. In the beginning, students normally play a lot because it is new, exciting, and fun. Often, practicing becomes more like a chore when students hit that first big hurdle. At that point, it becomes very difficult to get the motivation to practice. But if you practice daily, use good technique, then improvement is sure to take place. So clearly Perseverance is the most important trait for your progress as a string player.
